Item Description

A sharp galena and pyrite combination specimen from the famous Huanzala Mine. A 1.5 cm, sharp, matte-finish, spinel-twinned, galena crystal is dramatically perched on top of a beautiful mounded cluster of classic, mirror-bright, brass-yellow, well-striated, pyrite pyritohedrons. The lustrous pyrites reach 9 mm. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, the aesthetics are really nice here. The back of the piece is preferentially dusted with what appears to be micro sphalerite crystals (in fact, we think the galenas has at least partially altered to sphalerite). Very interesting. Spinel-twinned galena is rare from here, so this is a top-of-the line galena and pyrite combo. Ex Vincent Valade and Robert Whitmore Collections. RARE!
