Spinel-twinned Copper w/ Cuprite (2021 find)

Beautifully sculptural 2-sided floater small cabinet of sharp spinel-twinned copper crystals from a recent limited 2021 find at this super large Chinese Cu-Mo-Au deposit. The very aesthetic piece is dramatically enhanced by the striking, well-placed large spinel-twins at the crest, to 2.1 cm, the fine coppery patina and the colorful blood-red cuprite coatings. Both sides look great. Copper of this style compares favorably with classics from Michigan, Bisbee, Namibia or Kazakhstan. A very fine small cabinet with dense crystallization from an unusual but important locality. This mine has been worked for hundreds of years, but we only started to see specimen preservation recently. This is certainly one of the most aesthetic specimens from the small lot we received.
