Item Description
A VERY RARE and remarkable spinel-twinned copper thumbnail from this obscure modern open pit copper mine. The MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale features no photos. This adorable 360-degree cutie has striking arborescent, Christmas tree form with amazing skeletal/hoppered features. It is composed of very sharp tetrahexahedral crystals with a beautiful patina. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 218 and acquired in the Spring of 1962. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A rare and elegant copper from the locale.
