Item Description
An unusually sculptural and rich old-time specimen of sharp copper crystals from the famous Phoenix Mine of Copper Country. Very sharp spinel-twins and tetrahexahedral crystals with an overall arborescent, spinel-twinned form have a nice patina and cover all sides of the piece. Highlights include the amazing, 4.0 cm long spinel-twin that looks like a long-necked dinosaur, dragon or aquatic bird! and the extremely sharp crystal clusters at either end of the piece. The Phoenix Mine is noted for sharply crystallized copper specimens and this is a good one from the George Elling Collection. Valued at $800-1000.
