Item Description
A fantastic looking crystallized copper from a New Find at this super large Chinese Cu-Mo-Au deposit. The dramatically sculptural curved flattened sturdy piece is composed of a dense arborescent nest of mostly spinel-twinned crystals. Tiny euhedral to subhedral tetrahexahedral crystals are attached to many of the spinel-twins, adding character. The crystals have a beautiful variable patina and iridescence and some crystals have red Cuprite coatings, adding even more color. The large spinel is 3.2 cm long and each side looks distinctively different on this very aesthetic and artistic small cabinet. Copper of this style compares favorably with classics from Michigan, Bisbee, Namibia or Kazakhstan. An excellent example from the find.
