Spinel (twin)

Recently, the various gem tracts around Luc Yen have produced some impressive Spinel crystals. These are easily some of the largest individual Spinel crystals to come out of any locality. This specimen is good sized, somewhat translucent, sharp, lustrous "Spinel-Law" twinned crystal The color is a red-brown-orange hue, and to find crystals this size from Luc Yen is rare in my experience. A small amount of edge wear keeps the piece from being 100% perfect, but still an attractive and distinct twin. This locality has the potential to produce some SUPERB Spinels, and if they stay this size, they will set a new standard for the species.
