Spinel (rare locality) (ex Matioli)

Item Description

How often does one see a piece of Spinel from Brazil? This is more of a reference specimen, but a rare locality piece to be sure. It features a handful of rich cobalt blue octahedral Spinela crystals in Calcite matrix. The largest crystal measures 6 mm, and actually has very smooth, sharp, lustrous faces. I have never seen one of these pieces before, but it comes from the vast collection of Paolo Matioli of Brazil, so I trust it's genuine.
