Item Description
A cool locality piece labeled as coming from Potter Pass, Twin Lake Trail, Fresno Co., California featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous, octahedral crystals of Spinel measuring up to 6 mm on matrix. The color may look black in reflected light, but with some strong backlighting, I can see the color is a dark blue shade. There are some unidentified dark brown crystals which could be something like Titanite or Vesuvianite, but it's hard to say for certain. You RARELY see pieces from this locality, and if you collect minerals of California, don't miss out on picking this esoteric piece for your collection. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
