Spinel (new find - 2023)

This Spinel crystal comes to us from a brand new discovery at the end of 2023. The piece is said to be from Laghman, Afghanistan, and while I've seen purple Spinels from Badakhshan in the past, our source says they're coming from Laghman, so we're going with it. This toenail sized crystal is a sharp, well-formed, lustrous, beautiful light purple color octahedron, with minor attached marble in spots. It's largely complete and undamaged, only minor imperfections, with a very attractive color. A cool specimen for any fan of minerals of Afghanistan or worldwide Spinels.
