Spinel (new find - 2023)

This piece is from a brand new discovery at the end of 2023. This attractive specimen of Spinel is said to be from Laghman, Afghanistan, and while I've seen purple Spinels from Badakhshan in the past, our source says they're coming from Laghman, so we're going with it. This toenail sized specimen features a sharp, well-formed, lustrous, beautiful light purple color octahedron, sitting atop minor marble matrix. There is a little roughness on the top of the Spinel, so it's not 100% pristine, but still very attractive and aesthetically perched atop the matrix. A cool specimen for any fan of minerals of Afghanistan or worldwide Spinels.
