Spinel (New Find)

Item Description

From a brand new discovery in 2023, here we have an attractive purple Spinel crystal which is said to be from the Laghman Province in Afghanistan, not the typical Badakhshan Province, where the marble localities lie. This piece is a good sized, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, octahedron, but it's not 100% complete, as there is some contacted areas / interrupted growth. Keep in mind that it's rare to find Spinel crystals of this size with defined lustrous faces and a brighter color. Most bigger Spinel crystals are very dark and often fairly crude. An interesting and exciting piece that might be the start of things to come, or it might be a very limited discovery.
