Spinel (ex Kay Robertson and Collection)

Item Description

A classic old-time specimen of the famous Spinels from Mogok. This particular piece features fine, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, octahedral faces with a beautiful pink color. The crystal is fairly gemmy when backlit, and it's in good shape overall, with only a few contacted corners. These are not common on the market, and even when they were more available 20+ years ago, they were still fairly scarce. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#920). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
