Spinel is one of those gem that comes in a great range of colors, and they are personal favorites of mine because they always seems to have an almost "metallic" quality to them. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, but a large percentage of Spinels out there are not red. This is a beautiful Spinel from a discovery in Sri Lanka dating back to circa 2000. It is a very attractive stone with a brilliant pinkish-purple hue. The gem is nearly eye-clean in clarity and has a "Brilliant Oval" cut. This is a very good quality Spinel with a lovely color that would make a great addition to any gem collection or act as the center stone in beautiful piece of jewelry.
