Item Description

For the most part, good matrix specimens of Spinel are not easy to find from any world locality. Here we have an excellent matrix Spinel specimen that came out of Pakistan around 2012. The locality is one of the oldest and more renown Sapphire/Ruby localities in the world, and has long produced some amazing specimens. The Spinel crystals on this specimen are good quality, sharp, well formed, translucent octahedra exhibiting a rich pink color sitting atop Calcite matrix. The largest crystal measures 8 mm. I haven't seen many specimens of this material on the market in recent years, so I was very happy to have this piece to offer. These specimens are not coming out nearly as frequently as they have in the past, and they are definitely commanding very high prices on the market today, as are all fine matrix Spinel specimens from all world localities.
