Spinel is another gem that comes in a great range of colors. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, but a large percentage of Spinels out there are not red. It is an attractive, VS clarity, purple color, "Cut Corner Square" cut gemstone. The stone is attractive for a purple Spinel, and is not a "grey" shade. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels from this area, especially because they're usually very dark (almost black) or very included. Due to the political upheaval in southeast Asia, it appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Spinels may be dwindling.
