This gem is an attractive, good sized, fiery pinkish-red color, "Wide Pear" cut gemstone. The stone is virtually eye clean, and is great quality for the size. Whenever a gem is over 1 carat in weight, it is considered to be top collector quality, so this stone is well above the standard for a collector gem with regard to size. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels, because of political upheaval in southeast Asia. It appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Ruby Spinels may be dwindling.
