Spinel is another gem that comes in a great range of colors. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, but a large percentage of Spinels out there are not red. This stone is an attractive, good size, nearly eye clean included, pinkish-purple color, "Oval Step" cut gemstone. This gem has a very attractive color, and purple Spinels are some of the less common colors out there. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels, espeically over 1 carat, because of political upheaval in southeast Asia. It appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Spinels may be dwindling.
