Spinel (2 specimens)

Item Description

An odd set of pink Spinel crystals from Pein-Pyit, the larger of which features a well-formed octahedral crystal sitting atop a mound of additional Spinel octahedra, and the smaller crystal is a complex group comprising dozens of crystal faces all over. Both pieces are what I would consider "floaters", as they are essentially complete all around, with no major damage or point of attachment I can see. Both specimens have a distinct green hue in select areas, which is quite rare in my experience with Spinel from Mogok. I'm not sure what the chromophore could be that causes this green hue, but it's certainly rare. These are notably different from most Spinels you'll find from this locality or any other locality in Myanmar, so if you're a fan of Spinel as a species or minerals of Mogok, be sure to pick these up, as they are unusual and attractive.
