Item Description
When it comes to Spinel, nothing tops the Ruby Red color that comes from Burma. In fact, the term "Ruby Spinel" is derived from the fact that the Crown Jewels of England: Black Prince's Ruby is actually a Spinel! The stone was long thought to be a blood red Ruby when in fact it was discovered to be a gigantic Spinel that is estimated to weigh over 170 carats!! This stone is a very beautiful, very slightly included, orange-red color, "Freeform" cut gemstone. It is difficult to find superb quality red Spinels because of political upheaval in southeast Asia. It appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Spinels may be dwindling.
