Spinel is one of those gems which occurs in a great range of colors, and they are distinctive because they can of show an almost "metallic" quality. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, but a large percentage of Spinels out there are not red. This is a beautiful Spinel from a discovery in Sri Lanka dating back to circa 2000. It is a very attractive stone with a light purple hue. The gem is nearly eye-clean in clarity and has a "Brilliant Oval" cut. This is a very good quality Spinel with a lovely color that would make a great addition to any gem collection or act as the center stone in beautiful piece of jewelry.
