Spinel

Spinel is one of those stones that is found in a great range of colors. I'm sure most people think of red when it comes to Spinel gems, but you'll find there are plenty of other shades out there for the species. This stone is an attractive, good size, virtually eye clean, beautiful purple color, "Round Brilliant" cut gemstone. The color is very eye-catching, and the stone faces up wonderfully. One of my favorite qualities of Spinel is that they can have an almost "metallic" quality to them if that makes sense. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels, especially in this size these days, as they are not nearly as plentiful as they were 20+ years ago. It appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Spinels may be dwindling.
