Sphalerite with Rhodochrosite

The Stari Trg Mine in Kosovo is the chief locality of the Trepča Complex. This locality is famous for producing a good number of excellent crystallized display specimens. Primarily, you'll see a good number of sulfides and carbonates, and this piece is a superb crystallized example of said material. This small cabinet display piece features wonderful, highly lustrous, jet-black, notably well-formed euhedral crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 1.0 cm, which are partially coated by tiny vitreous group groups of pale pinkish colored curved rhombs of Rhodochrosite. No major damage and VERY attractive in person. It's hard to convey the quality in photos or a video, but take my word for it, this is a good quality example of this well-known and classic material from this prolific locality.
