Item Description

A RARE specimen of Sphalerite from the Silver Plume Mining District on the east side of the continental divide in Colorado. Honestly, there are not many specimen of anything from Silver Plume, and this is the first piece of Sphalerite that I've had to offer in the auctions from his historic mining district. This piece features intergrown groups or clusters of amber colored (yes, the crystals are actually gemmy!) sharp, lustrous complex modified Sphalerite crystals intermixed with white to colorless Quartz prisms on matrix. Were it not for the label, I would have a hard time knowing where it was from, but I'm including the tag from the famous Columbine Mineral Shop for verification. The largest group of Sphalerite measures 9 mm across. A great opportunity to pick up a cool association specimen for all you Colorado collectors!
