Sphalerite with GEM Calcite

A beautifully, three dimensional and eye-catching aesthetic display specimen of this world-famous material from the Elmwood Mine. The two main highlights of the piece are classic, sharp, well-formed, "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite crystals and a very sharp, rather lustrous, incredibly well-formed, soft golden color GEM quality, scalenohedral crystal of Calcite sitting on micro drusy Quartz on matrix. The biggest Sphalerite crystal group measures 3.5 cm at its longest dimension and the Calcite measures 4.2 cm long. There are a couple of TINY purple Fluorite cubes for a nice touch. Depending on how you choose to display the piece, you can highlight the Sphalerite or the Calcite, as they have nearly grown on opposite sides of the matrix. A very showy specimen that really stands out from many you'll see from this mine. The piece comes from the 56-70 #5 Orebody, and was collected in 1980. Valued at $1,500.
