Item Description

An attractive and classic Sphalerite and Calcite association specimen from this famous locale. Fine, sharp, jet black, "Spinel"-twinned crystals are associated with many off-white color, translucent, lustrous modified scalenohedra of Calcite. The largest Sphalerite twin measures 3.0 cm across, and most of the crystals are completely undamaged on the display side. I really love the color contrast and overall form of the piece. From and old East Coast collection, accompanied by a early label from noted mineral dealer, Larry Conklin of New York.
