Item Description

A fairly hard to find specimen from the New Glencrieff Mine (Wanlockhead Mine) in Scotland featuring robust, lustrous, jet-black modified crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 3.3 cm, which have a partial coating of sparkling silvery colored Calcite, creating a stark contrast and a very pleasing effect. No damage I can find on the top/display side of the specimen. These are quite rare on the market, and if you collect sulfides or minerals of the UK, or Scotland specifically, don't miss out on this beautiful and showy display piece from a fairly obscure locality.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#067).
