Item Description
This piece came with the labels from Kay Robertson, the first stating that it could be from Rodna, Hungary, and the second stated that the locality was still unknown, but referenced that the piece could be from
Banska Stiavnica (Schemnitz) in Slovakia or Pribram in the Czech Republic. If anybody out there has any information on where this piece might be from, please contact us and let us know. The piece hosts dozens upon dozens of sharp, well-formed, semi-lustrous, reddish-brown crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 1.7 cm associated with gemmy golden bladed crystals of Barite up to 1.3 cm on matrix. The labels mention the existence of possibly Millerite or Bournonite on the piece, but I can't find any thing that really resembles either mineral. Very little damage on the front / display side, but while it is crystallized on the reverse side of the piece, it's contacted in several places. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10665). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
