Sphalerite with Augelite (rare association)

Item Description

This mine is probably best known for its superb Bournonite specimens, but this new find has produced some attractive association specimens of Sphalerite with other minerals. The piece features dozens of semi lustrous, relatively sharp, deep red color (nearly black) crystals of Sphalerite up to 7 mm associated with gemmy, lustrous, crystals of colorless Augelite up to 2 mmand minor Quartz on matrix. This discovery was the first time we had seen these species associated together from this mine. The quality of the Augelite crystals, despite their small size is good, and the wonderful contrast between them and the Sphalerite is really striking.
