Item Description

Sculptural, mounded small cabinet cluster of splendent, sharp, jet-black to dark brown twinned sphalerite crystals from one of the mines at famous Dalnegorsk. The impressive, triangular, well-placed, 3.5 x 3.0 x 1.8 cm, crystal at the crest dominates this excellent specimen. The corners have differential growth and are undamaged. A few scattered quartz points, to 1.0 cm, are a fine accessory and contrast. Dalnegorsk is a world-class deposit for sulfides, fluorite, calcite and other species and this is a fine and classic sphalerite from the locale. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 05940CL and acquired in 1996.
