Item Description
The Casapalca Mine in Peru is well-known for its superb sulfide minerals, including some excellent Sphalerites. This piece is a fantastic, large cabinet display specimen featuring excellent, very sharp, well-formed, highly lustrous, striated "Spinel-twinned" crystal groups of Sphalerite measuring up to 2.4 cm, associated with white scalenohedral crystals of Calcite and GEM quality, colorless, prismatic crystals of Quartz. Minor Pyrite can be seen on the specimen as well. The piece is in amazingly fine condition on the front/display side with no major damage I can see. An impressive example of this superb, classic material. Valued $2,500.
