Sphalerite ("Spinel" Twins) with Pyrite

A wonderful and honestly hard to find (for the locality) sulfide association specimen featuring attractive, sharp, lustrous "Spinel"-law twinned crystal groups of jet-black Sphalerite measuring up to 1.8 cm across associated golden, metallic, striated Pyrite pyritohedra measuring up to 1.1 cm across. No matrix, just massive Sphalerite underneath. The piece is in good shape overall, but there are a few imperfections here and there, so it's not 100% pristine. This piece came out in the early to mid 1970s and is a wonderful representation of this elusive material from this famous mining district. We had this one priced at $600 in the inventory.
