Item Description
A classic Huaron Sphalerite specimen featuring excellent, sharp, well-formed, jet-black "Spinel Twins" of Sphalerite measuring up to 1.6 cm, which are associated with soft golden colored, striated cubes of Pyrite along with minor brassy metallic crystals of Chalcopyrite and white prismatic Quartz. No major damage anywhere that I can find, and I love how the main Sphalerite twin sits perfectly atop the specimen. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
