Item Description

A very rich and showy old-time combination specimen from the famous deposits of Chester County. Splendent, metallic sphalerite twins, to 1.5 cm, and contrasting aggregates of sparkly, tiny quartz points attractively cover the rubyjack sphalerite and host rock matrix. Many of the sphalerites are beautifully striated. The piece is probably from the famous Phoenixville District, renowned for pyromorphite and essentially extinct by the end of the 1860s! A fine combination specimen from the Howard Belsky Collection. The 2.3 cm label with 5 lines of superb printing is from a collection, that was auctioned in 1908! $1.75 was NOT cheap in 1908!
