Item Description
An EXTREMELY RARE pseudomorph from this well-known Zn-Pb-Cu mine. Nifty boxwork vugs in the gossan matrix are fully lined with sparkly, tiny, translucent, brown sphalerite pseudomorphs after wurtzite needles. The patches of golden iridescent chalcopyrite add color and pizzazz. Old material. Such rarities were reported in 1961. See the Mineralogical Record Kipushi Mine article in the May-June, 1995 issue, Vol 26, No. 3, p. 191. Ex American Museum and Eugene Carmichael Collections. Not pretty to look at, but a supreme rarity!
