Item Description
An interesting and sculptural older specimen (from the 1970s) of Sphalerite with Muscovite. While neither of these species are considered rare, the combination of the two from Panasqueira is certainly not terribly common. The piece features a few muted black color, almost "velvety"-looking modified crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 2.1 cm, nestled in a three-dimensional group of golden-brown, pseudo-metallic Muscovite. The back of the specimen is completely coated with soft golden colored Siderite, making this piece nearly a complete "floater", as there are only a few tiny points of attachment. Hard to photograph/video, better in person, and a really cool esoteric piece to add to any Panasqueira collection. Form the collection of Brian Kosnar.
