Item Description

The Elmwood Mine is only known for producing a handful of species, but the best pieces are among the finest in the world for what they are. Here we have a wonderful hefty, large cabinet specimen featuring beautifully crystallized lustrous, semi-metallic, compound crystals of deep reddish-brown Sphalerite sitting on a thin layer of matrix. A beautiful crystallized "mountain" of the well-known "Ruby Jack" from Elmwood. Great condition all the way around, with no major damage. It is a great display Sphalerite specimen from this world famous locality. Priced at $2,500 in the inventory. From the collection of Richard A. Kosnar (1946-2007), one of the greatest mineral dealers and collectors of his day and the namesake for the phosphate species Kosnarite. PLEASE NOTE: This specimen is fairly heavy, it weighs 2,515 grams (over 5.5 pounds), and will require and additional shipping charge.
