Sphalerite (HUGE multicolor stone)

Bulgaria is probably the best active region producing gem quality Sphalerite in the world right now. Some of the best gem quality green, yellow and orange Sphalerite in the world is found in the Madan Region of Bulgaria. This particular gem is a VERY large, stone with a "Deep Checkerboard Trillion" cut. Now the gem is very dark in reflected light, but under strong backlighting, it shows an incredible mix of golden-brown, red, orange, golden, yellow and even the rarely seen GREEN color. This stone has visible inclusions, but is certainly one of the largest I have seen from the locality. A cool collector's gem, and well worth the $100 starting bid for the size alone.
