Sphalerite (gemmy twins) with Galena

Item Description

A pretty association specimen from the Dongxiang Cu-polymetallic Deposit in China featuring sharp, well-formed, deep honey colored twinned crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 7 mm across, associated with grey metallic slightly modified cubic crystals of Galena measuring up to 1.0 cm on edge, sitting on little Quartz crystals on matrix. Tiny iridescent brass colored crystals of Chalcopyrite and soft golden metallic Pyrite crystals can be seen under magnification. No major damage, and the Sphalerites have good internal gemminess when backlit. I can't determine the paragenesis of the Sphalerite and Galena crystals, because in certain spots it looks the Sphalerites formed on top of the Galenas, and vice versa.
