Sphalerite (gemmy)

Item Description

A gorgeous near cabinet display specimen of very gemmy, rich honey-orange colored Sphalerites measuring up to 1.1 cm across associated with Calcite and Quartz on matrix. The Sphalerites are sharp, lustrous, complex crystals and nearly all of them are undamaged, save the periphery. When backlit, the color really comes out. It's not common to find gem/gemmy Sphalerites from most localities in Peru, and the pieces from the Manuelita Mine are among the most beautiful from any locality in the Andes.
