The Lengenbach Quarry in Switzerland is famous for its beautiful gem Sphalerite crystals. These Sphalerites are often small, but the color, quality, gemminess and crystallization make them some of the most iconic examples of the species extant. This piece comes to us from the collection of Giancarlo Fioravanti and features a 3 mm, gem quality, beautiful golden color Sphalerite crystal in/on Dolomite matrix. The crystal shows an excellent form and looks beautiful up close. We photographed the crystal with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens. Classic material and some of the most beloved Sphalerites in the world.
