Sphalerite (GEM crystals) on Dolomite

Item Description

A fantastic Sphalerite thumbnail from the famous Lengenbach Quarry in the Swiss Alps, which is considered one of the great mineral localities in the world for the number of species found there. This specimen hosts a few superb quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, GEM QUALITY, rich honey colored Sphalerite crystals measuring up to 6 mm, aesthetically perched atop white Dolomite matrix. There is a small contacted area where the piece was separated from the pocket wall, but it's still remarkably well-formed and shows beautiful, pristine, smooth crystal faces. These are hard to come by, and a must-have if you collect Sphalerites or minerals from this historic quarry. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
