Item Description

Elmwood is only known for producing a handful of species, but the best pieces are among the finest in the world for what they are. Here we have a wonderful small cabinet specimen featuring beautifully crystallized multi-terminated, lustrous, semi-metallic, compound crystal group of deep reddish-brown Sphalerite aesthetically sitting on matrix. The entire Sphalerite group measures 4.5 cm across. A beautiful crystallized display quality specimen of the well-known "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite from Elmwood. Great condition all the way around. Valued at $800. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
