Item Description

Some of the finest crystallized examples of Sphalerite from Colorado are the famous examples from Creede. This miniature specimen is a very nice example of this classic material. This piece is not only aesthetic, which is not common for this material, but crystals themselves on this piece are sharp, well-formed, and good quality for the mine. They are also somewhat gemmy with a rich greenish golden color that one is accustomed to seeing from this locality. The largest Sphalerite measures 1.6 cm across. Good quality on the display side, though it is not complete on the back where it separated from the pocket wall. You do not see these specimens any more, so if you collect sulfides, worldwide Sphalerites or minerals of Colorado, don't miss out on this one. From the collection of Brian Kosnar. Priced at $500.
