Item Description

Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. This piece hosts sharp, lustrous, deep reddish-black, good quality, reddish-brown Sphalerite crystals measuring up to 2.2 cm on matrix. These pieces are well known classics from the U.S. and this one really has it all from the standpoint of quality, size and displayability. From the collection of deceased Colorado geologist Allen Heyl (for whom the species Aheylite was named after), who purchased it from the Kosnars in 2000.
