Sphalerite & Dolomite (Consie Prince Coll.)

Item Description

This sculptural and excellent large Elmwood combination is highlighted by the two well-placed clusters of splendent metallic twinned sphalerite crystals atop the matrix of contrasting sharp, sparkly 2-5 mm dolomite rhombs. The outboard sphalerite is 4.0 cm and the inboard is 3.0 cm. There is another 3.2 cm crystal mostly hidden behind dolomite on the upper left. The sphalerites appear to be mostly jet-black, but bright light reveals classic rubyjack color. Common as species from famed Elmwood, this is a very aesthetic combination specimen in this size range. Classic combination material from the Consie Prince Collection dating to the 1980s.
