Bulgaria is probably the best active region producing gem quality Sphalerite in the world right now. Some of the best gem quality green, yellow and orange Sphalerite in the world is found in the Madan Region of Bulgaria. This particular gem is a fantastic, very good size, very attractive, golden-green color stone with a custom "Off Center Parallelogram" cut. This stone is only very slightly included, and is very fine quality for this material. Keep in mind that it is difficult to obtain a Sphalerite from Bulgaria with good color and clarity like this stone has. This gem was cut by Brett Kosnar in March of 2009. It has become very difficult to obtain large, colorful Sphalerite gems from Bulgaria these days, and the green stones sell for upwards of $150 per carat in Europe. Enjoy!
