Item Description

The Sphalerite specimens from the famous Elmwood Mine might not get the same attention as the beloved Calcites and Fluorites from this locality, but they certainly deserve a place in the upper ranks of well-known Sphalerites from any US locality. This wonderful crystallized "ball" features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, dark reddish-brown ("Ruby Jack") colored crystals of Sphalerite with an accenting group of cream colored Barite flaring off the lower portion. No damage that I can find, and the Sphalerite crystals are well-defined and beautiful to view up close. A wonderful example of this historic material from one of the most recognized specimen producing localities in the country.
