Item Description

Commodore Mine sphalerites are a Colorado classic. Sharp, metallic, highly lustrous, twinned sphalerite crystals with a scattering of golden iridescent chalcopyrite sphenoids are festooned on all sides of the quartz-rich brecciated matrix on this impresssive and sculptural large combination specimen. A nifty attribute of many of these sphalerites, is that they flash with areas of golden-orange to straw-yellow translucence under bright light. This fine combination displays well from multiple angles and is either from the old 1960s hoard released in 2002 or from the newer find in 2004.
