Item Description
Dal'negorsk is renowned for the quality and diversity of calcites and sulfide species. This impressive, two-sided rib highlights and combines both species. The mounded piece is aesthetically capped by a striking cluster of lustrous, jet-black, twinned sphalerite crystals to 2.6 cm. Clusters of glassy, translucent calcite rhombs nicely frame the sphalerites cascading down both sides of the piece. Complete all-around and in great shape. The primary display side is pristine, except for trivial basal periphery wear to the calcite in the center. The back side has a gently bruised sphalerite crystal corner on the crowning cluster and a dinged sphalerite on the lower left-hand corner. Specimens of this combination quality came out in the 1990s to early 2000s. Neon-orange calcite fluorescence. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this fine combination piece at $350, more than 5 years ago. It is worth more today.
