Sphalerite

Item Description

This is a showy and fine quality, three-dimensional display specimen of Sphalerite from Naica featuring a predominant, sharp, lustrous, dark brown-black colored, pseudo-octahedral crystal multiple measuring 2.7 cm across, associated with smaller Sphalerites and soft white colored rhombohedra of Calcite on matrix. I can see a tiny bit of golden metallic Pyrite on the piece as well with magnification. No major damage that I can see on the display side of the piece, but it is contacted around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A good quality and highly displayable specimen of this old (probably mined circa 1970s) material from this famous locality.
